Tebey In the Studio With U.K. Rising Star Pixie Lott
The ole songcamps have had a positive impact on the careers of a number of songwriters but none more perhaps than on ole writer Tebey. He parlayed a trip to L.A. for the ole pop + urban songcamp into a cut with U.K. rising star Pixie Lott and some quality studio time for himself and producer Brian Kidd for some ongoing creative collaboration with the young singer.
The song, “All About Tonight,” was written during that L.A. trip. “I did the camp and stayed for an extra week to do some writing,” Tebey explained. “I had started working with a new manager, Ed Jefferson, who’s British. He set me up with producer Brian Kidd and when we got together, he had the track done and my job was to write the top line. I wrote the verse and started on the chorus, but I wasn’t really loving it; I didn’t think it was as strong as it should be. I called my friend Tommy Lee James, who’s my main co-writer. He just happened to be in Los Angeles so I had him come by the studio and we wrote the rest of the song together after redoing the chorus.
“We weren’t trying to write for her. We just wanted to write a great, upbeat pop song and it just so happened that it was what they were looking for in the next stage of her career, which is to try and break her in America... but the song can definitely work in the U.K. as well.”
The song made its way to a&r execs Jamie Nelson and Joe Kentish at Mercury, Lott’s label in the U.K. – she’s on DefJam in the U.S. – and they showed immediate interest in the song.
Tebey, who’s in his fourth year now with ole, credits the company’s support in allowing him to travel extensively and advance his career overseas in places like Europe, Scandinavia and the U.K., for getting him into “rooms” with artists like budding British star, Pixie Lott. Tebey was one of the participants in the recent ole + BMG Euro hitsource songcamp in Malmo, Sweden and subsequently has received invitations for further songwriting collaborations in Nashville and L.A.
A versatile writer, Tebey has written in a number of genres and had his songs picked up by artists from around the world including Pixie Lott, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, chart-topping Canadian country group Emerson Drive, German group, The Veronicas, Delta Goodrem, Simon Webbe and Tara Oram.

"I won't leave home without accessorising. I don't feel right without rings on every finger, an armful of bangles or flowers in my hair.
"My jewellery box is full of Disney Couture, Rock 'N Rose, Tiffany & Co and trinkets that belong to my gran."Pixie has vowed to expand her wardrobe for the summer by experimenting with different colours.
She told Now magazine: "My summer style resolution is to inject more colour into my wardrobe.
"This season is all about bold colour blocking and clashing brights, so I've just bought a pair of colour pop blue wedges. I have more fun with fashion when the sun's out."
